Rachael and Jacob

Jenny honed her superlative parenting skills by nannying for these kids. They turned out awesome and we have every reason to believe that Oliver will too.

continually amazing

While putting Oliver down for a nap this afternoon I gave him his baby animals book to look at in his crib. When I passed it to him he said "anmal." "Did you just say animal?" I asked. "Yeah anmal," he replied, as if it were no big deal, and proceeded to point out various animals and make their respective noises... Now if only he would apply his dazzling intellect to the science of sleep.

lawlessness and insurrection

Someone bit the tip off of a marker.

moooon

Oliver is captivated by the moon and asks to see it throughout the day and night ("Moooon, see" or "m-m-mooon"). When he's really excited, both ball and moon are pronounced with 3 syllables, with the middle of a slightly higher pitch. Otherwise, they're one syllable and the pitch rises as if he's asking a question (i.e. "a ball?" "moon?").

The night of Christmas trees and pie

"A Ball!" He says "a ball" instead of "ball" now. He went straight for it this morning.

He's completely obsessed. Here's evidence.

And I got a portrait lens for Christmas, or as Amelia calls it, the sexy lens.

Uncle Becky and Aunt Jason.

New potty with rock star pee pee stance.

Quilt by grandma.

There is various Christmas detritus in the background but you can hardly tell. That's the beauty of the sexy lens.

comments

A few of you have complained about having to register for a google account to leave comments on this blog. I changed the settings so now anyone can post. Don't be shy - as long as you're not a creepy weirdo with a thing for children, we'd love to hear from you!

cookie tin drum

First it was a drum with a picture of Santa (ho ho ho) on it.

Hmmm. What's inside?

You better open it mommy.

COOKIE!... One word which along with boobie, mommy and no, he can pronounce perfectly.

But what's up with this?

If this is what sugar does to this toddler, we'll stick to sprouts.

Thanks Oliver!

The headphones to mom's iPod could use a good wash.

seeeeeeds!

Zoe gave me this sprout starter for Christmas. And while some of you may scoff, I couldn't be more excited about it.

And neither could Oliver. He points at it and says "seeeeeeds!" and when I showed him this picture he said "pree!" (pretty)

He ate some sprouts for the first time this morning. He was a little skeptical at first.

Then he started shoveling them in (note pinky).

He went through the full range of emotions, only because sprouts inspire such passion.

Contemplation.

Joy. Oh how we love sprouts! They are delicious and nutritious...

and they fit nicely in your ear.

What could be better? We want to share them with everyone. Thank you Zoe!
