Milestones
Two days ago Oliver pointed at something with intention. He's become very confident with his sippy cup.

He's recently discovered that it's smarter to put one leg down and then the other instead of diving head first.

Here he is putting an object in a container (he's been doing this for a while).

Here he is taking it out.

His favorite things are (take note, he's got a birthday coming up)... phones, remote controls, computers, tubes of diaper creme, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, shampoo bottles, lids, miscellaneous pieces of paper or plastic, and whatever you're drinking.

New Orleans Cont.
DAY FOUR...
We're leaving at 6:30 in the morning.

Do you ever feel like you need a vacation from your vacation? I'm so ready to go home -- to get back to the "grindstone." I'm trading in my cajon martinis for camomile tea.

New Orleans, you're a beautiful city but decadence is exhausting.

DAY THREE...
We had a muffalatta at Franks for lunch. Oliver loves loves loves meat and cheese.

We decided that today we would actually leave the Quarter and go to Magazine Street. We made it to the bus stop and it was just too damn hot, and admittedly I was getting increasingly cranky and a bit sick from the muffalatta, so we turned around and went swimming for the second time today.

I had a tarot card reading in Jackson Square. Among other things, she told me that Oliver was extremely smart and very creative. Duh.

At night we have to laissez les bon temps rouler very quietly in the hotel room -- Oliver's 7:30 bedtime can be such a buzz kill.

New Orleans
DAY TWO...
During our morning walk from our hotel to Cafe du Monde we stumbled upon this idyllic courtyard.

Here we are in Jackson Square.

This is us in the Hotel Monteleone's beautiful rooftop pool. We were afraid that Oliver didn't really love the water because he's been a bit curmudgeonly on previous occasions. It turns out that he just doesn't like cold water. This water in this pool was nice and warm and we both loved it.

More Byrne family photos.

Checking out the view of the rain drenched Quarter from our 5th floor hotel room. There were huge thunder showers yesterday and today.

Naked baby looking at photos of ectoplasm in my New Orleans Ghosts Voodoo and Vampires book.

DAY ONE...
Our jet set baby is getting to be a pro at this.

At Cafe du Monde with Nana.

mmm...beignets. I challenge you to find something more delicious than fried dough and powdered sugar.

Seeing Great Grandma Rita in real life

Mom gave granddad a whole bunch of old photos for his birthday. Here they are reminiscing about the olden days of yore.

New safari hat... don't be jealous.

Great Aunt Harriet and Oliver having a crazy good time with funnels and spatulas.

Rosie and Ren. Friends from way back, friends for life.

Granddad rockin' a mullet...

Granddad rockin' a hat....

Granddad rockin' the ukulele.

We had a super delicious dinner at Pascal's Manale. Mom was utterly enamored with her bbq shrimp.
