Last Monday, August 20th, Oliver said "Elmo." I turned on the tv and Elmo's World was on and he said "Elmo." So now his vocabulary consists of mama, wow, meow, roar!, blech (for anything gross), and elmo.

He understands that Romeo's toy smells like Romeo's rotten fish carcass breath and is therefore "blech." He has thus discovered that a better use of the toy is to throw it to Romeo instead of putting the germ-ridden, disgusting thing in his mouth.

The other day we told him to put his pacifier on the bed and he shook his head no (foreshadowing?).

He loves patty cake and thinks the rolling part is hilarious.

If watching him grow weren't so amazingly amazing, then I would be having a very difficult time with the fact that he is now more toddler than baby.

When Oliver wakes up and we go in to get him, we tell him to put his pacie on the bed and he takes it out of his mouth and throws it in his crib. Jenny worked with him for a while and now it's routine - he only has the pacie at sleepytime.

I've been messing with the settings on my camera. I'll spare you my bad experimental photography except when it features Oliver.

With godmommy Zoe.

More Jen

Jen was wondering why she hadn't been featured on this blog.

I told her that it was because this is Oliver's blog and that I don't really post pictures of our friends unless, of course, they're holding Oliver.

But really it's because she's got a terrible case of the crabs and it totally grosses me out. Jen, you should really see a doctor. I'm pretty sure they make creams specifically for this problem. You're also welcome to borrow Romeo's flea shampoo - that would probably kill 'em. In any case, good luck with that. As soon as you're cured, you skanky ho, I might actually let you hold the baby and then there'll be a lot more pictures of you on this blog.

party. olive's crib. 8:00am.

This is battle prune juice. The juice belonged to Wiley but all the kids wanted it.

We'll make fun of them for this when they're old enough to get jokes about constipation, old people and prunes.

Those cd's didn't stay on the shelf for long.

How you doin'?

so much has happened

First of all, Oliver can walk. He also says "Wow!"

Walking boys need shoes.

Mom doing Oliver's mad face right back at him.

This is Jen "do I have anything on my face" Ludwick telling me I'm number one. Thanks Jen!

Nope, nothing on your face, looks good to me.

Let me just double check, nope, nothing.

Walking around, looking at the water,

exploring.

Look at that proud mama.

Big boy having a hamburger and french fries.

We love animals

Zoe was babysitting Pheobe and brought her over for a visit. She took a nap with Oliver. btw - all the animals love Oliver's room. Romeo naps on the rocking chair and Sebastian naps on the changing table.

Here they are spending some quality time together.

And here he is with Olive's cat, Gus.

a few uneasy steps

This is the first ever no photo post, but I'm just posting to capture this date (yesterday's date actually). Oliver took two steps last night. I'll keep you posted.

Dear Heather

Mon cheri, You left your sunglasses at my house. I'm going to wear them around until you pick them up - they add a certain je ne sais quoi to my look, wouldn't you agree? ~Olivier (What's up with that lip? He looks like Charles Nelson Reilly.)

saturday night

First pickle. As an aside, when I was pregnant there was nothing more disgusting to me than hamburger pickles. They assaulted my senses with their color, their smell and their rubbery texture. Whoever came up with that crap about pickles and ice cream clearly has never been pregnant.

it will grow

Jenny gave Oliver a haircut last night.

The front's ok.

The right side looks pretty good.

The back looks better.

But the left side, well, see for yourself.

overwhelming cuteness

Oliver now does his flirty head-tilt thing on command

high five

Summertime in the hood

Oliver, makin' phone calls. Olipopinator, the Olimeister...

Romeo, it's for you. Stop scratching yourself and pick up the damn phone.

If something frightening happens to you today, think about it. It may be "The Omen."

Oliver, sit down.

No, you sit down!
