Elkin, Kentucky

Tim's mom's house:

There was gorgeous farmland everywhere.

Child of the corn:

Oliver was "very exciting" to eat a brownie in front of the Mennonite bakery across the street from the house that Tim grew up in.

Sewanee, Tennessee

Monteagle, Tennessee

We went to Sewanee to visit Zoe. She works at Mountain Outfitters in Monteagle and we met her there so that Oliver could try out the climbing wall.

This is about as far as he got, he was much more interested in swinging.

Athens, Georgia

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo.

We had yummy vegan food at The Grit.

We took the obligatory child on the bulldog photos.

We went shopping for used books.

Back at the hotel, Oliver spent some time reading his first encyclopedia.

Road Trip!

Oliver was ready to go.

So Long Sippies

Oliver sent his sippies "to the babies." He now drinks out of a big boy canteen!

Stinky

Oliver now has an imaginary friend named Stinky who "looks like Captain Phoebus." I'm assuming that means he's blond? Stinky is a little naughty. When I'm pushing Oliver on the swings, he wants me to push Stinky too, but Stinky will jump off of the swing and onto the clubhouse, which, according to Oliver is "very dangerous." At school, Stinky had to stay inside at recess because he got into an altercation with a girl. I'm unclear who pushed who, but I don't think Stinky was blameless in that situation. Stinky probably wears a leather jacket and spits in the alley.

On the verge

Here's Oliver on the verge of busting a move to the songs in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His baton and his keys are his Willy Wonka costume.
